What Is An Herb? Activity

The first herb I located at the supermarket was thyme. Thyme is an herb used medicinally, and is commonly put in teas to soothe the sore and dry throat symptoms as well as coughing and bronchitis. It also serves as a diuretic and fights off intestinal issues and parasitic worms.

The second herb I located at the supermarket was bay leaves. Bay leaves are popular, aromatic leaves used to flavor soups and stews. They are fairly large, so they are cooked in soups and stews but removed before eating. They are also used in teas as detoxes and known to help reverse signs of aging.

Finally, the last herb I found was mint. Mint is known as a MAP (Medicinal and Aromatic Plant) and is therefore used for multiple things, from cooking to medicine. Mint, in particular, is known to be a soothing agent for the stomach and aids digestion. You can eat mint leaves or brew them in a tea. Mint itself is a very popular flavor as well and is found in a wide range of things from ice cream to toothpaste.
