The above plant is the cilantro we have growing in our backyard, also known as Coriandum sativum. Cilantro is a member of the Apiaceae family and is also known as Coriander and Chinese parsley. "Cilantro" specifically refers to the leaves. It is a dicot and an herbaceous plant. Cilantro grows white flowers, and their seeds produce Coriander, another popular seasoning. It is a perennial plant.
Pictured above is the peppermint we have growing in our backyard, also known as Mentha piperita, a member of the Lamiaceae family. Mints are dicots, and they are medicinally aromatic plants. Mint is a perennial plant. It has square stems and small flowers.
